Game Night

We hosted a Virtual Games Night last Tuesday!

We played Among Us, Codenames, and Scribble. This was a great opportunity to engage with fellow students in the water industry, and of course, have some fun! The event took place on our OWWA SC Discord Server on March 2nd, 6:00 PM EST. Prizes were awarded to two winners with the highest cumulative points and raffle prizes were also given to four lucky attendees!

We hope everyone had a good time 🙂

AWWA Research Webinar

Join the OWWA SC for a webinar series hosted by AWWA on November 25th at 6 pm during which a panel of leading researchers will highlight state-of-the-art knowledge on three contaminants of emerging concern in water – including solvents (trichloroethylene and 1,4-dioxane), microplastics, and PFAS and define the challenges, address the challenges with treatment, present impacts of testing results, and shine light on the path forward.

You will not only have the opportunity to test your knowledge on contaminants of emerging concern along with other students and young professionals in the water industry but also to share your funniest water-related joke or pun while registering for your chance to win a prize! There will also be raffle prizes for two lucky individuals in attendance of the webinar.

To register for the webinar and submit your jokes, you may scan the QR code in the poster below or use the following link:https://www.eventbrite.ca/…/awwa-research-webinar…

October 4th, 2017 event: Contamination and Effects of Plastic Debris in the Marine Environment

OWWA Oct 4th

Hello and welcome back to a new year!

You’re all invited to our first event featuring guest speaker Chelsea Rochman, marine ecologist and professor at the University of Toronto. Dr. Rochman has been researching the sources, sinks and ecological implications of plastic debris in marine and freshwater habitats for the past decade. Her work brings her to traditional and non-traditional waste sites, from the world’s remote ocean “garbage patches” to wastewater treatment plants and landfills around the world.

Her presentation will review the contamination of plastic debris in marine ecosystems, the impacts of plastic debris and associated chemicals on animals and potential impacts to human health.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
