AWWA Webcast: Advances in UF/MF Membranes – Ceramic and Nano-fiber

Date: Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Time: 1:00 – 2:30 pm

Location: GB217

***************

Membrane water treatment technology is constantly improving. The development of new membrane systems for customized applications is expanding the options to meet specialized needs. This webcast presents the results of comparison studies that assess the performance of ceramic and nano-fiber membranes. Pilot studies and cost analyses demonstrate the factors that influence decisions regarding the selection of ceramic or polymeric MF/UF membranes. Also, electro-spun nano-fiber membranes (ENMs) and their applications in water treatment will be introduced.

 Learning Objectives

  • Compare the operational performance of ceramic vs. polymeric membranes.
  • Discuss innovative applications of ceramic and polymeric membranes within existing water treatment plants.
  • Identify cost-competitive situations between ceramic membranes and polymeric membranes.
  • Introduce the enhanced characteristics of electro-spun nano-fiber membranes.
