About Us

The OWWA Student Chapter (OWWASC) at the University of Toronto is a student-run group that was established in 2005 and is supported by the OWWA Young Professionals Committee (YPC).  The Chapter provides students with opportunities to learn about the water industry while  building their technical knowledge and leadership skills, and networking with industry professionals.

The Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) is a voluntary organisation of water professionals in Ontario.  Its members comprise engineers, scientists, managers, environmentalists, operators, technicians, and students. As an organisation, the OWWA provides leadership in water management and strives to be a leading resource for safe, sufficient and sustainable water.

The objectives of our Chapter are as follows:

EDUCATION: Advance our knowledge and skills in the water industry

NETWORKING: Develop a network for career advancement

SOCIAL RELATIONS: Meet and share ideas with persons with similar interests

FUNDRAISING: To support humanitarian efforts for the provision of safe water and sanitation in developing countries.  As a Chapter, our proceeds are donated to support the work of Water for People Canada.

Our activities include seminars, plant tours, and social events which are open to all students and staff of the U of T community.  These events are always free of charge.
